Recent Western Graduate, Shalini Krishnan (BA 2013), accepted a position as a SportsWORKS Officer with the Commenwealth Games Canada.
She will spend a year working in Namibia as a Capacity Support Officer with the Namibia National Olympic Committee.

Well-known CBC News Network morning host Heather Hiscox, who has covered six Olympic Games, took the group for a tour around the studio.
Dr. Laura Misener will partner with scholars from the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) to examine the social legacy of the Glascow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the Pan/ParapanAmerican Games in Toronto 2015.

Dr. Karen Danylchuk recently returned from Aletheia University in Taipei, Taiwan where she participated in the World Association for Sport Management (WASM) Executive Council, Board, and Annual General Meetings, held in conjunction with the third consecutive Global Sport Management Summit.
A historic outcome of the meetings was the decision to award the first WASM Conference to the University Nove de Julho in Sao Paulo, Brazil, October 1-3, 2014.
Dr. Karen Danylchuk's International Sport Management course (KIN 4498) hosted a group of 9 students and 2 professors from Amsterdam's Johan Cruyff University from November 5 - 10.
The group participated in a series of lectures, and took in the sights of London and Southwestern Ontario.

Professor Alison Doherty will assume the role of Editor of Sport Management Review as of Nov. 1, 2013.
She has served in the role of Associate Editor for the past three years.
Sport Management was represented at the 3rd International Symposium for Collaboration in Research, Teaching and Exchange held at Western on September 21, 2013.
The Symposium included Western University, Victoria University (Melbourne) and the German Sports University (Cologne).
Dr. Torsten Schlesinger from Bern University, Switzerland, was connected with the Sport Management program while visiting London and Western.
Dr. Schlesinger is currently on an educational leave from September 1 to Nov. 30, 2013.
Recent alumnus, Dr. Katie Lebel's, doctoral research on Athlete Self-representation on Twitter was featured in The Daily Dot and on Canada.com.
Western Sport Management was well represented at the 2013 North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) Conference held from May 28 - June 1 in Austin, TX.

The ISU World Figure Skating Championships were held at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario from March 11 - 17.
Western's sport management students and faculty conducted Economic Assessment Surveys on behalf of the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance at the championships.
